Program Requirements (MCAT & Continuous Eligibility)
General Arts & Sciences Degree Requirements
Requires a minimum of 120 hours to graduate
Complete 31 credit hours of The University of New Mexico General Education Curriculum.
Complete 3 credit hours U.S. and Global Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Power Requirement.
A minimum of 90 credit hours from within the College of Arts and Sciences; 18 credit hours of Honors courses count for Arts and Sciences credit.
At least 48 credit hours of upper-division coursework (courses numbered 300 or 400) with a minimum grade point average of 2.00 on all upper-division credit hours accepted by the College of Arts & Sciences -OR- At least 42 credit hours of upper-division coursework and completion of a second language at the 4th semester level or equivalent. Fulfillment may be met through testing. Students with proficiency in a foreign language (for example, any student who speaks English as a second language) should consult with the department offering the alternate language or their Arts & Sciences advisor for advisement, referral, placement and/or testing
A total of 4 credit hours of each of the following can apply toward your 120 total credit hours for graduation from the College of Arts & Sciences: Physical Education Non-Professional (PE-NP)
A total of 4 credit hours of ensemble music or dance can apply towards your 120 total credit hours. Dance minors may exceed the 4-hour limit.
