Student Work Policy

The BA/MD Program strongly encourages students to not seek employment in their first year to fully transition into college level coursework and enhance study habits to become a stronger learner. An exception to this policy will be made for students whose scholarship requires it, such as the Daniels Fund.

If a student is in need of employment in the fall semester of first year, they must petition requesting approval from the Student Petition Committee (SPC) prior to seeking/applying for employment. If approved, the committee will require students to work up to 10 hours per week maximum. The student also needs to be aware that if their academic status (mid-semester progress reports, semester and/or pre-med GPA’s, etc.) falls below the program continuous eligibility standards, the student will be required to withdraw from their employment to focus on their studies.

If the student is in need of employment in the spring semester of first year, they do not need to petition requesting approval from SPC, yet will be held to the same conditions of up to 10 hours per week and required withdrawal from employment if academic status falls below program continuous eligibility standards.

Students are allowed to work beginning the second year of the Program.
